Tips For a Zero Waste Self-Care Routine

Tips For a Zero Waste Self-Care Routine

We should spend more time with ourselves. We are all busy, on the road, in a hurry and therefore sometimes a bit overwhelmed. This can cost a lot of positive energy. At least for me… With a zero waste self-care routine you can regain a bit of positive energy and peace ♥ ︎

Zero Waste good for mental health

It is important to me that the products I use do not harm nature. Preferably plastic-free, vegan and without chemicals. I enjoy products more if I know they are sustainable. Better for the planet, better for me!

Being aware of this is already part of your self-care routine. Choose products that are good for the world, and therefore good for you.

Maybe this is completely new to you, and can I help you find good, sustainable brands. Or, perhaps you are already more familiar with plastic free living and you can use some new inspiration.

All products that I use for a self-care routine are vegan, cruelty-free and organic and do not contain any chemicals. I hope you enjoy!

Meditation

You can choose to start a self-care routine with a mediation. I really like this myself. This way you don’t only relax physically, but also mentally. You bring your attention to the here & now. Through meditation, you get even more out of this moment for yourself.

It already helps when you take 10 minutes to yourself with your eyes closed. Focus on your breathing. Become aware of your environment.

I like to meditate, with the help of “guided meditation”. There are a lot of different guided meditation apps and YouTube videos that can help you. Choose which you personally like best.

Shampoo Bar

Shower

Showering is of course super nice during a self-care routine. I believe that water not only cleans you from the outside, but also from the inside. As if it takes negative energy and stress away from you.

During the shower I mainly use “bars”. Shampoo bars, conditioner bars, body bars etc. Soap bars last a long time and are often plastic-free. I do recommend using a soap container or soap dish. So the shampoo bar lasts the longest!

The Shampoo bar from Flow Cosmetics smells super nice and ensures shiny hair. In addition, it is completely organic, plastic-free, vegan and natural.

After washing, use a conditioner bar for extra soft and healthy hair.

Body Scrub

After taking care of your hair, it is your skin’s turn. To remove old skin cells and stimulate micro circulation, you can use body scrub. This also exists in the form of a bar. The Poppy Seed Body Scrub Soap is a natural product. It is handmade in Utrecht and smells super tasty!

Afterwards you have a wonderful, soft skin.

Shower Lotion

Hydrated skin is very important to me. I have dry skin, especially when I have been in the sun and the sea a lot because of surfing. That’s why I always use a hydrating products after showering.

I personally think the Vanilla Bean Shower Lotion from Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve is super nice. This shower lotion can be used in various ways. It is very hydrating for your skin, but also for your hair. Multifunctional 😉

Lekker Deo

I have been using chemical, harmful deodorants for a long time. After I started living more sustainably, I realized that chemical deodorants are not good for my health. That is why I switched to natural deo. Natural deo is much better for my skin and also for the environment. In the beginning it takes some getting used to.

You apply natural deodorant differently than the usual deo. Yet it is worth it for a healthier skin and world.
